If your computer has started running slower and slower, you may want to use one of the adware removal programs. Adware is unwanted files that are put on your PC by publishers and marketers who want to see what you search for and what you purchase. Advertising mediums on the Internet such as banners and pop-ups include additional codes that tract your personal information without your permission or knowledge and pass it on to a third party. These programs have also been called spyware, because they use an Internet backchannel connection. A backchannel connection is when a user’s Internet connection is running in the background without the user’s knowledge.
It seems like every time you turn around you hear about another virus to watch out for when opening your connection and email. They are probably the number one threat to your computer. Over 87% of our computers are already infected! Some of these viruses are pop-up ads, Trojans, worms, web bugs, and web worms. The adware removal programs help track down and delete harmful adware or spyware. These programs scan your computer for viruses and such and permanently removes them. Some systems even repair and correct errors caused by adware, and organizes your PC, so you get the best performance from it. Some of the more advanced programs even block pop-up ads, so they cannot put the adware onto your computer.
Most people think that viruses are the biggest threat to their computer. That is not entirely true. Adware, also known as malware and spyware, and Trojans are just as dangerous. Maybe even more dangerous, as they run in the background. It is not like a person can control the information sent out, which is another reason for adware removal. Adware can even cause damage to your computer while it is sending out information. Some times your personal information and/or financial information is compromised without you even knowing it. This is why you need adware removal software for you computer.
Another way to help prevent your computer from being overrun with adware is to be very selective when you download Internet software and games. Certainly, no one wants to have spyware on their computer; but sometimes you just can’t avoid it. It might be wrapped in something you download from a computer file. This is a serious problem, as it is possible to lose a lot of information and have your computer damaged. Do not take spyware lightly, download one of the free adware removal programs and use it today!

You do not have enough information in your question to get a really good reply.
Is it a PC ? y/n.
Is it running Windows XP Home, XP Pro, XP media center??
Is it reading in video from antenna or cable???
Now I assume you are running XP…..
Go to the device manager…..
Start >> Control Panel >> System (in classic view)
First tab shows CPU type and speed.
Intel has a CPU ID utility program on its website, and a
CPU frequency (speed ) utility too.
Intel CPU’d LAPTOPS have speed step that slows down to
save battery when idle…. THEY don’t slow down when on
line power.
Symantec / Norton NIS or Anti-Virus can bring a Pentium 3
1.0 GHZ to a stand still if it’s on cable TV based broadband due to Anti-virus updates. Same goes for Windows updates, and Google Updater.
>>>Google Updater will restart itself in the background even if you kill it manually in the task manager !!! Surprise!!!
VISTA Aero is still having major problems and can get "Lost"
in the video driver…….
LAST go to the last tab in System and increase the virtual
memory // page swap file size…..
goodluck

You should check your cookies. You can do this by searching cookies, then you need to delete the ones that are from websites that you don’t have your password saved on. You can delete all of them but then you will need to save your password again. If this doesn’t work try adding more ram.

I recycle computer and some times rebuild them.
Have you scanned for Spyware? If not download, update and scan with Spybot and Adaware. How long since you ran a diskcleanup? Is your drive free from fragmentation? This disease can slow things down. Keep a check on frag levels and also on the free space.

If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don’t always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.
First, if you haven’t cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC’s resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:
1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser
2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".
3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.
4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.
5. Click OK.
3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:
1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
6. Click "OK"
Other great tip is increasing your virtual memory to simulate more RAM. This will give you a bit more resources for multiple program use or CPU heavy programs.
Hope this link helps. Shows you how to do everything step by step. You should get a least 60-120% more resources and speed
if you follow the tips.
