No. All of the new PS3’s have dropped backwards compatibility. Unless the PS3 he is used, and has a shiny front, then sadly no.
Seriously though, after playing games like Resistance 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4, you won’t want to go back to the PS2 games.

not all the ps3’s are backwards compatable. the 80gig’s were. but not for all games.
